Words from watch owners

Brought in my father's old Seiko 5 that hadn't run properly in years. The inspection report was thorough — they found a worn mainspring and a hairline crack in the dial I hadn't noticed. Movement service took about three weeks and it came back running better than I could have hoped. Timing results were included which I appreciated.

I travelled from Chiang Mai specifically to use Penduline for a vintage dress watch. Worth the trip. They were honest about what the case could and couldn't be done to without damaging the patina. I'm glad they flagged it before I just said 'do everything'. The watch came back looking appropriate to its age.

Really pleased with the whole process. The inspection felt like they were actually curious about the watch rather than just filing it through. Quote came within two days, service took just under three weeks. No surprises on the bill, which I've had elsewhere and found frustrating. Will bring my other pieces here in due course.

I left a watch for the restoration project. It's a piece that belonged to my grandfather — not valuable in the commercial sense but personally very significant. The photos at each stage were something I hadn't expected and genuinely moved me. They handled it as if they understood what it meant. The final result was excellent.

Sent a message before visiting and was told roughly how long to set aside for the drop-off — that helped me plan around it. The person at the bench explained what they were looking for during the inspection in terms that made sense without being condescending. Four stars only because the timeline slipped slightly, but they let me know ahead of time which is fine.

Used the inspection service for a watch I'd acquired secondhand. The written report was detailed enough to actually be useful — not just 'it needs a service' but specifics about the mainspring tension, a missing jewel, and some minor case wear. That kind of information helps when you're deciding how much to invest in a piece.
Case Studies
A few longer stories
Case Study 01 · Restoration Project
1960s dress watch, non-running, corroded crown stem
Challenge
The watch had been stored incorrectly for approximately 15 years. The crown stem had corroded at the tube, the mainspring was set with oil residue, and the dial had uneven discolouration from moisture ingress. The owner wanted it running and stable again without losing the aged character of the piece.
Approach
A full movement service was carried out after a new crown stem was sourced and fitted. Dial care was limited to cleaning and stabilisation — no refinishing that would alter the existing patina. The case was cleaned conservatively. Progress photographs were shared at four stages over the eight-week project.
Outcome
The watch returned to regular wearability, running at +/−5 seconds per day across two measured positions. The dial retains its aged character and the case shows honest wear appropriate to a piece of that age. The owner has since had the watch insured at a value reflective of its restored condition.
"I wasn't sure it could be saved without losing what made it interesting. They understood exactly what I meant by that." — Narong S., Bangkok
Case Study 02 · Movement Service
Daily automatic, gaining 3+ minutes per day, worn for 8 years without service
Challenge
A well-used everyday automatic watch had begun gaining noticeable time. The owner had been wearing it daily for eight years without any service. The movement was running but erratically, and the case showed significant wear at the lugs.
Approach
Standard movement service was carried out: disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning, replacement of the worn barrel arbor, fresh lubrication, and regulation. The case and bracelet were cleaned but not polished — the owner preferred to keep the wear. Duration: two and a half weeks.
Outcome
Regulation results at collection: +2 seconds per day dial up, −1 second dial down. Well within the manufacturer's specification. The owner noted the crown action felt noticeably smoother, something they hadn't considered as part of the service scope but which resulted from fresh lubrication at the keyless works.
"The timing sheet was a nice touch. I'd never seen one before and it made the whole thing feel more considered." — Kittipong A., Bangkok
